Jeff Rients' blog, but I liked it so much, I thought I'd re-post it here. As Jeff notes, this is perfect for all of those games where you can't remember who is supposed to go first, but you're too lazy (like me) to look up the rules. Is it the next birthday in the group, the person who's been sick most recently, or the person whose age is a multiple of
π? Who cares? Just roll the decision die, available from Battlestations, and you'll know who goes first.
Personally, I'm thinking of using it for Initiative in the Old School AD&D game I'm running. Seriously, it makes about as much sense as the actual initiative rules.
